COURSE DESCRIPTION: This two-year class integrates AP English with the World Literature course of the International Baccalaureate Program. In this course, students will develop clear expression of ideas orally and in written form. The program encourages the development of the appreciation of literature and culture of the student's society as well as of other societies. Through the study and critical analysis of world literature, it is intended that the student will gain a global perspective of literature and human thought. Students will take the IB English examinations at the end of grade 12.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This two-year course will present a well-rounded exploration and examination of historical events around political and diplomatic, intellectual, and cultural, and social and economic themes. Covering a chronology from 1450 to the 1990's the themes will be interrelated. The two courses will prepare students to take both Advanced Placement European History and the IB History of Europe examinations.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: In this two-year course, students will develop a secure knowledge of a limited body of facts and at the same time develop a broad understanding of the subject. This course is laboratory based and students will apply their understanding via first-hand experiences. Four biological concepts will form the basis for this course: structure and function, universality versus diversity, equilibrium within systems, and evolution. Students will take both AP and IB examinations in biology.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This two year course is a rigorous inquiry based science class using algebra and trigonometry to solve problems in measurement, mechanics, thermal physics, electricity and magnetism, and atomic and nuclear physics. Although content is important, the focus of the class is to understand how scientific experiments are performed. Students will be asked to investigate various objects and will be required to determine what and how they investigate their topic independently. This class requires a strong background in mathematics and the ability to think logically about the realities of performing experiments within the context of physical principles. Students will have the option of taking the Standard Level or Higher Level Examination in May of their senior year.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This two-year course is required of students pursuing the IB Diploma. This course explores the relationships of various disciplines to one another and to life experiences. The Theory of Knowledge (TOK) class normally meets three times a week.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is for students with varied backgrounds in mathematics. The purpose is to provide students with mathematical skills needed in technology, with an emphasis on the application of mathematics in real- life situations.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is for students who anticipate a need for a sound mathematical background in preparation for their future studies. Topics that will be covered include Numbers and Algebra, Functions and Equations, Circular Functions and Trigonometry, Vector Geometry, Statistics and Probability, and Calculus. Students will be required to complete a Portfolio and will take both IB Methods and AP Calculus exams at the end of the course.

PREREQUISITES: Pre- IB Spanish I-II, or Spanish for Spanish Speakers, and teacher recommendation.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The focus of the course is communication. The students will sharpen skills in the area of listening comprehension, reading of authentic materials, and written and oral expression for a variety of social, education, business, and personal purposes. Students will discover the richness of Hispanic culture and become aware and respectful of the differences in culture and understand how language reflects these differences and/or similarities. Students will take the IB examination in Spanish at the end of grade 12. Students may also take the AP Spanish Language exam.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course examines the interaction between information, technology and society. Students will develop problem-solving and analytic techniques using various software programs. The course also focuses on the impact of information technology on individuals and societies. Students will take the IB Information Technology examination at the end of the course.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The IB Art is a studio oriented course encompassing group - structured and self-structured work designed to provide students with opportunities to explore, study and master processes and techniques necessary for expressing a creative visual statement. Students will draw upon local as well as global resources in pursuing individual growth. Through individual research and group interaction the students will develop artistic literacy and critical analysis of artworks from both contemporary and historical perspectives. Students will take the IB Art examination at the end of the course.
