Pathway Overview

Students in the Digital Media pathway are introduced to the latest software applications in the Digital Media industry including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and InDesign. Once students are able to comfortably navigate the software, students build their design skills and use industry-standard equipment to bring their ideas to life by creating ads, posters and dynamic visual presentations. 

 

Course Descriptions
10th Grade- Digital Media I

This is the first course in a three-year sequence of Digital Media courses. In this course, students will identify the basic principles of graphic design. Students will acquire an understanding of high-resolution images and be able to differentiate between a raster and a vector image. Additionally, students will explore appropriate uses of typography (font), additive and subtractive color. Finally, students will embark upon career exploration for the graphics industry. 

 

11th Grade- Digital Media II

This is the second course in a three-year sequence of Digital Media courses. In this course, students will become proficient in Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. Applying basic principles of design, students will create live traced images; images for heat press (t-shirts), and build basic animations. Students will apply filters, color corrections, masking, clipping mask, and blending modes. As the course progresses, students will animate graphics in 2-D and 3-D. 

 

12th Grade- Digital Media III

This is the third course in the three-year sequence of Digital Media courses. In this course, students will demonstrate increased proficiency in multimedia skills and the application of design principles. At this level, students will plan and develop a website, movie, and DVD through the import and manipulation of different file formats. 

 

Certifications

This pathway allows the students to earn four industry-recognized credentials as an Adobe Certified Associate in Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Premier.
