Summer 2015...These pages "UNDER CONSTRUCTION"...stay tuned for updates from the Visual Art Department. ;-)

Ms. Valerie Xanos, Curie Art Faculty, was accepted to present with the Museum of Contemporary Art's Curriculum Slam at the National Art Education Association Convention in San Diego. This is an exciting honor. She will present about her classes' creation of contemporary art with the Learning To Love You More art project. The MCA was very interested in how Visual Literacy is used to teach students how to analyze, evaluate, and reflect upon their artwork. Other teachers from around the USA will attend this workshop to learn how to improve their own curriculum. The Curie HS Art Department uses many techniques and methods to improve their students' use of higher level thinking skills and proves to be an example to others. Curie Art Dept. alumnus, Mayra Palafox, has the honor of being a representative of the New York Live Arts Event. "New York Live Arts is an internationally recognized destination for innovative movement-based artistry offering audiences access to art and artists notable for their conceptual rigor, formal experimentation and active engagement with the social, political and cultural currents of our times." Well done Mayra, you do Curie proud!
