This course introduces students to the historical contexts
for the visual arts through time from painting to drawing
and sculpture to architecture and other media. The class
will examine the major forms of artistic expression, genres,
and movements from a variety of diverse cultures and
perspectives. Students will learn to think critically about
art and understand how it can impact societies and reflect
varied issues. Research and writing assignments will be
included along with reading texts and other resources.
