COURSE DESCRIPTION: This class is a required basic introduction to technology to prepare students for lifelong learning and adapting to change in technological society as well as introducing them to the use of information technology for education, employment, and personal use. Real-world application software such as word processing, spreadsheet, database and telecommunications are stressed. Additional learning will include career and consumer awareness. COURSE SCRIPTION:Beginning accounting students will establish a background in personal and small business accounting. Students learn the accounting cycle for a sole proprietorship with an introduction to partnerships.Students will also be introduced to automated accounting procedures. Essential for those planning a business career in accounting.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Intermediate level accounting students will explore partnership and corporate accounting procedures with a variety of accounting experiences and accounting analysis.Students will practice automated accounting simulations on the microcomputer. Students will be introduced to computerized accounting procedures using the industry standard spreadsheet software, Microsoft Excel.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Students will gain practical accounting experiences using a college fundamentals textbook and workbook, plus the computer to perform additional accounting analysis. Advanced practice and concepts will be stressed in both Microsoft Excel 2000 and Word 2000. Advanced units in the area of corporate accounting, payroll, spreadsheets, auditing and analysis of financial position will be covered. Students will learn about the world of work in different accounting-related occupations.

Emphasis will be on the access of information from the development of HTML documents for the World Wide Web.This course consists of units in JAVA Programming and Web Page Design/HTML.

Through the use of classroom instruction, students will receive skills for entry-level positions and prepare to continue their education in a post-secondary institution. Students will develop proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database management, graphics, presentations and desktop publishing applications. In keeping with the need to expand students skills for the workplace beyond the computer competencies, much classroom time will be devoted to the development of those soft skills as outlined in SCANS.
