Parent University 104: Factors to School Success and Motivational Interviewing

This workshop will teach the four techniques of motivational interviewing, which will empower parents to effectively communicate with students in supporting independent change of their thoughts and behavior. Parents will learn about how motivational interviewing offers students a safe space to share their problems and problem-solve through support as opposed to coercion. Will help parents understand the importance of familial involvement in their child's school and learn strategies to implement at home to support their child's success.
