Use the doors off of the Archer Ave lot in the back of the school, also known as the ‘Park Entrance’
Parking is available in the Archer Ave lot
Curie is also accessible from: CTA Orange line - Pulaski stop & CTA bus routes - 53A (Pulaski) or 62 (Archer)
Students will be seen in the order that they arrive. Families should be prepared to wait.
It is recommended that families arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled registration time.
Parents and guardians will have a designated waiting space while the student is auditioning. Families are not allowed in audition rooms. Families will wait in the designated waiting space for their student.
Students that apply using a paper application are still required to attend an audition. NO ADDITIONAL AUDITIONS will be scheduled after January 25th. Choose a TBA date by checking the website regularly.
An e-mail will be sent to identify rooms and times for auditions
Students should be checking e-mails regularly for updated information related to, but not limited to: room changes and rescheduled auditions in the event of inclement weather

DANCE

Only students who have submitted a complete application and have met the minimum requirements will be granted an audition for admission to The Dance Department of Curie Metropolitan High School for the Performing & Technical Arts. Admission is by live audition OR by submission of an online application including technical dance photos, a dance video and statement of intent. Please refer to the Audition Guidelines for online submission requirements. Walk-ins will be accommodated on a limited basis.
Students of all abilities may audition for admission into the dance program. Curie recognizes the need to provide opportunities for students who have had high levels of prior dance instruction, as well as students who have had little to no prior training but demonstrate a strong natural ability and a desire to learn
There will be a formal questionnaire given prior to the class, so please show up at least 15 minutes or more prior to your audition time.
Required live audition preparation:
Dance Auditions are not staggered due to the Barre warm-up and class itself.
Auditionees WILL NOT be admitted once the audition begins.
Auditions consist of abbreviated classes in ballet, contemporary, and jazz.
Students can bring head shots or resumes if they like. These are not required.
Auditions will also include time for the adjudicators to ask the students questions.
Audition dress requirements:
All: No jewelry or baggy clothes. Hair should be pulled back off the face.
Dance clothing options include: leotard, tights, dance attire, tights or fitted shorts, fitted T-shirts, form-fitting exercise clothes, and joggers. Ballet shoes, jazz shoes, Pointe shoes, or bare feet (no socks). No baggy clothes or jewelry please.
