COURSE DESCRIPTION: An introductory level class. Become familiar with concepts of design elements and principles through hands-on experience with assorted materials.Explore the culture, historical, and vocational aspects of art. This course is a requirement for all students except those enrolled in the technical program. A notebook is required.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Emphasis on drawing and painting fundamentals. Experience art production using a variety of materials, such as pencil, charcoal, pastels, inks, printmaking, watercolors and acrylics to develop skills essential to a career in art. A portfolio will be kept. Sketchbook required.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Emphasis on Studio Drawing and Painting with 2D computer graphic components. Create powerful expressions through observation and skillful use of media technique. Utilize the principles of quality art production to improve abilities; study historical, cultural, and critical aspects of art. A portfolio will be kept. Sketchbook required.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Emphasis on drawing and painting with advance life drawing components. Utilize art tools, materials and techniques toward quality art production development of personal and creative style. Concepts and composition, historical, cultural, and critical aspects are emphasized. A portfolio will be kept. Computer Graphics components will include the next level of Adobe Photo shop techniques. Sketchbook required.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Emphasis on arts and crafts. Utilize elements and principles of art to create prints, weavings, hookings, mosaics, jewelry pieces, masks, and woodcrafts, involving a variety of tools and materials. Historical and cultural aspects of various world civilizations are studied.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Explore the backstage technical careers available in the entertainment industry. Learn to read a script and discover set and costume design clues. Survey the process of theatrical design from script analysis through scenic drafting, model building, costume design and scenic painting. Work with a variety of hand tools in the construction of sets and props.

Lead construction crews and supervise running crews for school productions.Prepare items for a college portfolio and attend professional performances.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Emphasis on historical and cultural aspects of three-dimensional art sculptural forms. Create sculptures from clay and wood. Learn mold making techniques and cast designs in various materials, studying the principles of organization and historical/cultural aspects of sculpture.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Emphasis on ceramics. Produce functional and sculptural objects from clay.Explore techniques of hand-built and wheel-thrown pottery. Learn to apply glazes and operate an electric kiln. Study the aspects of world cultures on ceramic forms.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT DRAWING PORTFOLIO 91610 & 91814

CREDIT: 2 (Double period)
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Studio Art class that develops a portfolio. Used for college admissions as well as documentation to the A.P. National College Board for college credit. Students should have a good foundation of art skills, as they will be working at college level and exploring complex studio techniques, art concepts, and art theories.Media development will focus on drawing and painting techniques and exploration.Students must also develop a personal theme for artwork topics. A workshop on how to make slides of artwork is included.
