COURSE DESCRIPTION: Students will gain practical accounting experiences using a college fundamentals textbook and workbook plus the computer to perform additional accounting analysis. Advanced practice and concepts will be stressed in both Microsoft Excel 2000and Word 2000. Advanced units in the area of corporate accounting, payroll, spreadsheets, auditing and analysis of financial position will be covered. Students must also work 15 hours per week in an accounting-related occupation.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This advanced training level course will develop and understanding of technology and skill in operating related equipment.Students will learn the advanced concepts and integration procedures for using today's most popular business software, Microsoft Office XP. Through the use of classroom instruction and on-the-job training, students will receive instruction in the technical and soft skills necessary for entry-level positions and prepare to continue their education in a post-secondary institution. Students will develop proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database management, graphics, presentations, and desktop publishing applications. Students are required to work at least 15 hours a week in a related occupation. Throughout this course, vocational ethics, communication skills, transition skills and employ ability skills are integrated. All students will also maintain affiliation with and participate in the activities of the professional student organization, Business Professionals of America.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is a vocational cooperative education course designed to prepare students who are interested in the hospitality industry and careers in the area of family and consumer science. In the related classroom, students receive instruction on career selection, pre-employment techniques, labor laws, job safety skills and consumer education. Throughout this course, vocational ethics, communication skills, transition skills, employ ability skills and analytical skills are integrated. Students are required to work 15 hours per week to develop the competencies needed for successful performance on the job.

INDUSTRIAL COOPERATIVE EDUCATION (I.C.E.) 66410 AND 66510

PREREQUISITES: Auto II or approval of Instructor and concurrent enrollment in Auto III

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is a cooperative education course designed to prepare students for gainful employment in positions related to the area which they selected for their career choice.
In the classroom portion, students receive instruction on career selection, pre-employment techniques, labor laws, job safety, job survival skills, and consumer education. Students are released from school to attend their cooperative work experience. Through actual work experiences the student develops the competence needed for successful performance on the job.
