COURSE DESCRIPTION: Transportation Technology is an entry level course on transportation systems and careers available.
Students are exposed to automotive system fundamentals, and shop practice procedures.
Among the topics taught in engine operating principles, engine performance, electrical/electronic systems, brakes, suspension, and steering systems.
Transportation Technology is a prerequisite for advanced level classes. The class is open to both male and female students.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Advanced Automotive Technology Lab offers students in-depth study of automotive electrical/electronic and suspension systems.
Among the topics taught in the course are: general electrical system diagnosis, battery theory and testing, starting system, charging system, lighting system, and accessory system,
front and rear suspension system diagnosis service, and repair. Expensive lab time is spent on diagnosing and servicing live vehicles.
The students have the opportunity of job shadowing and internships at a manufacturer's dealership or independent repair facility.
This course prepares students to make a successful transition from school to work or continued training in the automotive field.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Advanced Automotive Technology Lab offers students in-depth study of automotive steering, brakes, and engine performance. Among the topics taught are:
disc and drum brake diagnosis and repair, hydraulic system diagnosis and repair, anti-lock brake systems, steering system diagnosis and repair, wheel alignment, general engine diagnosis,
computerized engine controls, and related engine diagnosing and repair. Extensive lab time is spent on diagnosing and servicing live vehicles.
The students have the opportunity of a co-op training experience at a manufacturer's dealership or independent repair facility.
This course prepares students to make a successful transition from school to work or continue training in the automotive field.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to introduce students to careers in the field of child care.
This course provides students an opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities and tasks involved in caring for children.
This course provides in-depth study in human development, birth defects, social community services, and family life education, as well as, the careers related to each area.

ADVANCED CHILD CARE AND DEVELOPMENT I 85310

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course consists of on-site laboratory education accompanied by observation techniques.
The course is divided into two major areas: the theory class and the practicum in which students work with community pre-school children in the school-based lab.
The theory component focuses on the development of children in all areas-physical, cognitive, social, and emotional from conception to age six.
Emphasis is placed on the effect the child's environment has on development health, safety, food, and clothing.
Students learn to understand children behavior, cope with and solve common problems, and utilize alternatives to problem solving. Information related to child care careers is incorporated throughout the course.

ADVANCED CHILD CARE AND DEVELOPMENT II 85320

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course continues the format of the Advanced Child Care and Development I class which includes both theory and practicum aspects.
Students plan children's program models, goals, objectives and teaching strategies. They are given opportunities to plan and implement various activities with the preschoolers in the on-site practicum program.
Emphasis is placed on administration and supervision skills of child care facilities including state and local regulations.
Students work to earn the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential. Opportunities for membership in professional organization are provided. Tours, job shadowing, and visits to child care facilities are made available.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: An introduction to computer aided drafting (CAD). The student will learn the basic operation of a CAD system.
Drawing commands as line, arC, circle; editing commands as erase, trim, copy move; display commands as zoom will be covered.
Students will be able to output a drawing to a drafting plotter and print. Development of drafting techniques, geometric construction, orthographic projection
(3 view drawing representation) and identification and construction of sectional views.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Learn the theoretical, conceptual, and mathematical aspects of Direct Current and Alternating Current circuitry and components.
The course will include hands-on experience in basic analog electronic circuit construction, testing and troubleshooting, along with electronic circuit integration, packaging and project construction.
Also including, will be a training session in basic soldering theory, applications, hands-on skills in high reliability thru-hole soldering, and rework and repair of single and double sided printed circuit boards.
Students completing this training session will be awarded an industry based certification.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Learn the theoretical, conceptual and mathematical aspects of Solid State circuits and basic Digital electronics.
The course will include hands-on experience in advanced analog and basic logic circuit construction, testing and troubleshooting, electronic circuit integration, packaging and project construction;
training in basic personal computer repair and maintenance. Also included, will be a training session in the soldering and extraction of Surface Mounted Technology (SMT) component, and nondestructive SMT
circuit board rework and repair. This training session will also emphasize protection standards used in industry to avoid circuit damage from Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).
Students completing this training session will be awarded an industry based certification.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Learn the theoretical, conceptual, and mathematical aspects of advance Digital electronics. The course will include hand-on experience in advance logic circuit construction,
testing and troubleshooting; logic circuit integration, packaging and project construction; and training in advance personal computer repair and maintenance.
Completion of the training in basic and advanced personal computer repair and maintenance will prepare students for the industry based A+ certification examination.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to provide students interested in a career in food service with laboratory experiences and information needed for developing job related skills.
The students receive laboratory experiences using commercial and residential food service equipment, preparing food in quantity and serving food.
Additionally, students will develop an understanding of nutrition and the important role it plays in maintaining good health.
Safety and sanitation, are emphasized. Throughout this course, vocational skills, transition skills, and employ ability skills are integrated.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course continues the learning in Food service 1 through an in school food service laboratory.
More emphasis is placed on management skills, human relations, personal selection and supervision. Training experiences involve equipment and facilities that simulate those found in business and industry.
This course will provide information for the student about the sanitation exams offered by the National Restaurant Association and the State of Illinois. Juniors will complete in the C-Cap competition.
The Pro-Start 1 curriculum will be followed.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to provide students with information and practical experiences needed for the development of job related competencies.
The students will be provided with laboratory experiences using commercial equipment, preparing food in quantity, serving food to the public.
Training will be provided in the school lunch and through catering experiences. Seniors will compete in the C-Cap and the Pro-Start competitions for scholarships.
The Pro-Start II curriculum will be followed.
